Oregon Zoo
The Oregon Zoo is the oldes zoo, west of the Mississippi. It is over 60 acres of some of the best zoo habitats. The zoo is just a 15 minute drive to the west side of Portland.
Coast / Pacific Ocean
Seaside, Oregon is just 90 minutes from Portland. Have fun playing beach volleyball, clam digging, charter ocean fishing, kite flying, and even surfing. The Oregon coast has a vast array of sights and activities. Other towns of interest that are within a 2-3 hour drive are Newport, Depoe Bay, Tillamook, and Astoria.
Mt. Hood
90 minutes east of your apartment is Mt. Hood. If you are staying with us for the winter, you have several choices for skiing, snow shoeing, and other winter sports. Summer time visitors can hike to wonderful mountain lakes, experience the Adventure Park, and even ski and one of America's only year-round ski resorts.
Columbia Gorge
The mighty Columbia River forms the border between Oregon and Washington. "The Gorge", as the locals call it, begins just east of Portland and stretches for 80 miles before leveling out. The sights and activities in The Gorge are almost limitless. Windsurfing, mountain biking, hiking, several waterfalls (including Multnomah Falls), fishing, and magnificent views all around.
Forest Park
Stretching for more than 8 in the NW corner of Portland, Forest Park is one of the largest urban forest in the US. There are 70 miles of hiking and biking trails that wind though second-growth and old growth trees. It is a popular area for trail running, dog walking, and mountain biking.
Sauvie Island
At 26,000 acres, Sauvie Island is the largest island on the Columbia River. 12,000 acres of the island have been preserved as a wildlife area and it is a premier hiking, birdwatching, hunting, swimming, fishing, and pumpkin patch location.
Kelley Point Park
This is the tip of Portland, and just a 10 minute drive from your apartment. The park is the point where the Willamette River flows into the Columbia River. There is a canoe launch, picnic areas, walking paths, and plenty of beach area for hanging out.
Pier Park
On the way to Kelley Point Park, you will pass Pier Park. A skate park, forested disc golf course, softball fields, a playground, picnic areas, and an outdoor swimming pool make this a popular destination
